Make/Write

David Capener makes and writes.

His multidisciplinary practice includes media theory, architecture, philosophy, art, and writing.

In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary group ANNEX he co-curated and designed Entanglement, the Irish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2021. His work has been exhibited at transmediale/Akademie der Künste, Berlin; Galway International Arts Festival; Green on Red Gallery, Park Lane, Spencer Dock. Dublin; Roca Gallery London. He was a speaker at transmediale 2023 at the Akademie der Künste, Berlin. His practice critically examines the spaces produced by our contemporary technological condition. He is co-editor of the book States of Entanglement published by Actar (2021). Has a chapter Good Game Peace Out in the edited book The Physical and the Digital City: invisible forces, data and manifestations - Intellect (2024), and is author of the forthcoming book in the Thinkers for Architects series, Stiegler for Architects - Routledge (2025).

  • The Production of Space 2 — Edited collection with the artist Alan Butler exploring the computational production of space.

  • Optical Delusion — The Right to the City in the Image Age. This book explores everyday life in an age saturated with automated images. Images produced by artificial intelligence.
