David Capener, is an architect, critic, writer, academic and educator based in Belfast & Dublin.

He is part of Annex an international research and design collective of architects, artists and urbanists.

Annex are currently working on the curation and design of Ireland’s pavilion, Entanglement, for the 17th International Architecture Biennale at Venice in 2020.

He is a researcher at Technological University Dublin looking at the production of space in an age of planetary computation, how this space is produced, and what it means to practice as an architect amidst these spatial transformations.

David’s research is in collaboration with the Marie Curie funded Real Smart Cities Project, directed by Philosopher of Technology Bernard Stiegler, head of the Institut de Recherche et d’Innovation (IRI) at the Pompidou Centre.

He teaches on the masters program at Queens University School of Architecture

He has written for the Irish Times, The Guardian, The Sunday Times, New Statesman and numerous other print and online publications.
